Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled and experienced M&E Project Manager with expertise in industrial HVAC systems. This role is responsible for managing and overseeing all mechanical and electrical (M&E) aspects of the project, ensuring that all work is completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with industry standards. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with HVAC equipment, strong leadership skills, and a deep understanding of construction and engineering practices.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all on-site M&E activities,  from planning and design through to delivery and handover, ensuring compliance with specifications, safety, and quality standards.
    • Installation of electrical equipment (eg. controllers, digital power meters, IOT gateway and etc)
    • Installation of mechanical equipment (eg. flow meters, temperature sensors, humidity sensors and etc)
    • Electrical panel modification works
  • Manage and coordinate with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and teams to meet project goals and ensure smooth project execution.
  • Managing project budgets, schedules, and resources, ensuring cost and timeline efficiency. 
    • Able to prioritize tasks and assign manpower to ensure that the overall resources are used effectively and within project deadlines.
    • Evaluate and authorize changes that significantly impact the scope budget or timeline of a project.
    • Analyze and approve project investments that best meet the organization needs.
  • Identify, provide technical support, and resolve operational problems to minimize delays and expedite project completion. 
    • Ensuring all pre-commissioning and commissioning activities and procedures are carried out in alignment with project requirements. 
    • Liaise with clients and relevant authorities to obtain necessary permits and approvals.
    • Oversee the punch list and QA/QC plan for M&E work, ensuring vendors address issues promptly and in line with construction requirements.
  • Communication with the client regarding construction activities, participation in the commissioning process and interface with the design and engineering team.
  • Ensuring health and safety standards are adhered to throughout all phases of the project.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in M&E project management, particularly in the construction industry (main contractor experience). Experience with industrial HVAC systems is preferred.
  • Leadership: Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a team to achieve project goals.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project).
    • Skilled in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Good understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, installation methods, and local regulatory standards (particularly for Malaysia-based projects).
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills and the ability to troubleshoot installation and technical issues effectively.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise with clients, subcontractors, and consultants.
  • Documentation: Experience in material selection, procurement, and managing project documentation, including reading and interpreting mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Familiarity with Local Market: Knowledge of suppliers and subcontractors in the Malaysian M&E industry is highly desirable.
  • Other:
    • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
    • Willingness to travel as needed and possess own transport.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with local business and government rules and regulations, especially for industrial HVAC projects.
  • Experience in industrial new construction, modification / retrofitting projects and strong knowledge of industry standards
