We’re hiring a contract Learning Designer to design and create engaging content and curriculum for beginner English learners who use Toko to improve their spoken conversation skills. Our users are adult, native Chinese speakers who mostly live in Taiwan and Hong Kong.

🍞 Compensation

$50-$100/hr, billed hourly or by project

💻 What you'll do

• Design curriculum for our Beginner English (A2) Tutoring course (focused on spoken English conversation), such that users are able to apply learned words, phrases, and sentence patterns in spoken conversation upon completing a unit
• Leverage a corpus to select commonly used and appropriately leveled words, phrases, and sentence patterns
• Write example exercises for users to learn selected words, phrases, sentence patterns
• Collaborate with our technical team to integrate curriculum into our mobile app

😄 Who you are

• You have 3+ years of recent experience creating curriculum for spoken conversational English, preferably for native Chinese speakers
• You have experience with corpus-based English learning methodologies
• You can work during East Coast business hours (to facilitate collaboration)
• You have classroom teaching or 1:1 English tutoring experience, preferable with native Chinese speakers
• You're tech-savvy and frequently use mobile apps, Slack, Zoom, etc.
• You have strong written and verbal communication skills in English

🍰 Bonus

• You have a background in linguistics (MA or PhD) or TESOL
• You are familiar with CEFR standards
• You have experience developing content for language learning apps or online language learning platforms

We're tackling unsolved NLP and automated speech recognition problems, like dynamic content generation and understanding accented English.

We use Flutter, Flask/Python, Firebase, and Google Cloud Platform.
