About the role
Skills: SQL

We're looking for a skilled Data Analyst to join our growing team and drive our data-informed decision-making process. As a key member of our analytics team, you'll be instrumental in transforming raw data into actionable insights that shape our marketing strategies and client campaigns. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to work with various industries, collaborating closely with our marketing team and clients to uncover valuable insights and drive data-driven decisions. If you're passionate about turning complex data into clear, actionable strategies and thrive in a fast-paced startup environment, this role offers an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on both Kaya and our clients' success.

What you'll do

Data Management and Analysis

  • Write efficient SQL queries for analysis and reporting.
  • Data modelling to transform raw data into analytics-ready tables.
  • Collaborate with our engineering team to optimize data pipelines and integrate new data sources as needed.

Reporting and Visualization

  • Develop and maintain dashboards in Metabase, providing clear visualizations of key performance indicators for our marketing campaigns and client projects.
  • Produce regular reports and presentations for both internal teams and clients, translating complex data into clear, actionable recommendations.

Strategic Insights and Collaboration

  • Collaborate with our marketing team to integrate and analyze data from various advertising platforms and CRM systems, creating a unified view of client campaign performance across multiple channels.
  • Conduct in-depth analyses of user behavior, market trends, and competitive landscapes to uncover actionable insights that inform client strategies and drive business growth.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in data analytics, continuously improving our processes and methodologies.

About you

  • Strong Data Analysis and Visualization Skills: You're an expert in writing complex SQL queries for large data interpretation, deriving insights from it. You also have extensive experience with visualization tools and spreadsheets, in creating insightful dashboards and reports to communicate findings effectively.
  • Strong Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: You're able to solve medium-complexity problems using logic, common sense, and data, identifying root causes rather than focusing on symptoms.
  • Marketing Analytics Experience: You have 1+ years of experience in a data analysis role at a marketing agency or in a marketing function at a fast-growing startup.
  • Resilient and Gritty: You're prepared for the rollercoaster ride of a seed-stage startup. You understand that there will be ups and downs, but you're ready to face them head-on with resilience and determination.
  • Strong Communicator and Team Player: Collaboration is second nature to you. You possess outstanding communication skills, enabling you to work seamlessly with both technical and non-technical teams.
  • Educational Background: Ideally, you have a Bachelor’s degree in Math, Economics, Computer Science, Statistics, or another STEM field.

Preferably, you also have these traits:

  • You have strong working knowledge of tools like Google Analytics, Search Console, Segment, and other relevant marketing analytics tools.
  • Experience with using Python for data manipulation and analysis tasks.
  • Data warehouse experience: BigQuery, Snowflake, Redshift
Interview Process
  1. Initial conversation: A relaxed 30-minute chat with a team member to get to know you and introduce you to life at Kaya. We'll discuss your experience and aspirations, and you can ask us anything about the role.
  2. Take-home task: We'll present you with a practical challenge that mirrors real day to day work, allowing you to showcase your both your analytical and technical skills in a hands-on way.
  3. Task review + live coding exercise: We'll then discuss your approach to the task together (usually between 30 to 45 minutes), and we’ll also conduct a live coding exercise together. This gives us both a chance to explore ideas collaboratively and see how we might work as a team.
  4. Final interview: Lastly, you'll meet with the founders for a more in-depth conversation lasting around 30 minutes. We'll delve into your expertise, ensure we're a good fit for each other, and address any remaining questions about the role and Kaya.
