About DoorDash

DoorDash is a technology company that is building the next generation of local delivery. We operate a full stack delivery service: by partnering with merchants, hiring our own drivers, and building our own logistics software, we are able to control the entire delivery experience to make it more efficient for everyone.

Our team is looking to grow with talented people who want to build much more than just a food delivery company. We help small businesses grow, give underemployed people meaningful work, and offer affordable convenience to consumers.

Our investors include Sequoia Capital, Khosla Ventures, Charles River Ventures, Andreesen Horowitz, SV Angel, Y Combinator and many others.

We're looking to expand the founding team with talented people who are excited about our mission to empower local economies and build out the world's first real-time logistics company.

DoorDash is based in San Francisco, CA.

The Merchant Satisfaction team ensures that all merchants can easily discover, onboard, and grow their business on the Storefront platform. The team aims to create a smooth and intuitive experience that supports merchants every step of the way, from initial discovery to ongoing growth, and helps them with investments in their first-party channels.

About the Role

Playing a key leadership role in enabling merchants to grow their business on an affordable first party service like Storefront is essential to DoorDash’s mission to empower and grow local economies.

You will be a key player in fostering a collaborative and cross-functional work environment, promoting effective communication and synergy amongst team members. This role is ideal for a strategic thinker with the leadership skills to balance technical excellence with business priorities.

You're excited about this opportunity because you will…

  • Lead and grow a team of diverse and high-performing backend and client-side engineers delivering end-to-end engineering solutions
  • Collaborate with Product Managers, Business leaders, and key stakeholders to determine the team's roadmap and vision, and manage execution against that roadmap
  • Support career growth for a team of 8+
  • Encourage innovation, teamwork, implementation of cutting-edge technologies, and outside-of-the-box thinking
  • Oversee the hiring process for your team, in partnership with recruiting, to grow a diverse and inclusive team

We're excited about you because you have…

  • BS, M.S., or PhD. in Computer Science or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in people management leading backend and/or full-stack teams
  • 8+ years of industry experience
  • Extensive experience as an engineer in a fast-paced, product-focused development environment
  • Experience with distributed system design, system scaling, and performance optimization
  • Hands-on leadership and strong product intuition
  • Humility - willing to get into the details and open to feedback
  • Growth mindset - you're eager to expand your skill set and excited to carve out your career path in a hyper-growth setting
  • Adaptability, resiliency, and ability to thrive in ambiguity - things can change quickly, and you'll need to help the team evolve
