Hydra builds and operates analytics and data warehouse solutions for Postgres.

Hydra is seeking a Go (Golang) engineer to work on our cloud backend services. Go serves the control plane of the Hydra Cloud service. We also have several tools and services written in Go, most notably pgxman and its related services.

This is a short-term contract that may convert to a full-time position.

Required Experience

• At least 3 years of professional experience working with Go
  • Comfortable building Go applications backed by SQL databases, ideally PostgreSQL
• Experience building APIs in Go using OpenAPI
• Experience consuming APIs in Go
• Experience working with Docker

Recommended Experience

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field (e.g. Computer Science)
• Experience writing code that uses APIs to manage cloud infrastructure (e.g. containers, instances, etc).
• Experience using docker bake
• Experience using Terraform and HCL

Bonus Points

We welcome people with diverse experience that may be able to assist in other areas. If you have any experience working with these technologies, that would be a plus. That said, there’s no specific expectations that this position will work with these technologies.

• The C/C++ build process (especially Postgres extensions)
• Ruby on Rails
• GraphQL
• Next.JS
• Kubernetes
• WASM
• Use of common cloud services like AWS, CloudFlare, etc.

Location, etc.

• Fully remote, equipment not provided.
• Must be available to have meetings during US/Central time (currently UTC-5) between 10:00 and 14:00.
• Fluent English required - must be able to meet and converse synchronously on a video call.
• No visa support.

Term

• This is a short-term hourly full-time contract. We expect the duration to be at least 2-3 months, but the ideal candidate would be open to contract extension or full-time employment at a later date.
