About the role
We are hiring our first marketer to help us build our marketing foundation to scale our growth. You will work directly with Humanloop’s CEO to set the marketing strategy and then execute it. We are seeing strong early traction, but have a lot of work to build the foundation for our marketing strategy - including positioning & messaging, and figuring out what channels will help us grow fastest. We have a good idea of our ideal customer and need to build a strategy to reach them with a compelling value prop.
We’re seeking a “pi-shaped” marketer. Ideally someone who has strength in product marketing and one of content or demand-gen.
You will be responsible for:
-
Product marketing strategy: Gain a deep understanding of our audience, develop our positioning and messaging, and communicate about the product and its benefits to our audience.
-
Messaging: Craft compelling messages across marketing channels (emails, web, etc).
-
Measuring Performance: Make sure that we have the right tools in place to quantify and measure impact
-
Launches: Plan and execute product launches from strategy to messaging, channel strategy, and measurement; collaborating with product, sales, and customer success.
-
Content Calendar and Strategy: You’ll help create a content strategy and calendar and execute against that strategy to help
-
Sales & Customer Success Enablement: Partner with sales and customer success to create content to support their outreach and conversations with prospects and customers.
Example tasks you’d work on:
- Improving the website and running experiments
- Creating content like case studies or blog posts (or managing contractors to do this)
- Defining the content strategy and managing the content creation process
- Creating content for email marketing and linkedin ads
- Running experiments to determine which channels work
- Improving our sales decks and sales messaging
- Doing competitive research and helping position us
Skills and experience:
-
Marketing experience: At least three years of marketing experience, with a focus on product marketing.
-
Industry or business model experience: Experience marketing in a B2B top-down sales environment (its a bonus if you’ve experienced a technical or developer-focused product).
-
Experience setting marketing strategy AND executing: You’re able to balance strategic vision and operational excellence, from setting high-level team strategy to getting in the weeds planning launches and doing competitive research. This is an early-stage startup and you will be doing both.
-
Managing Up: You’ll have to work closely with many different team mates: the CEO, CTO, sales and customer success. Knowing how to get things done with minimal process at an early stage company is important.
-
Product marketing depth: With core competencies in positioning, messaging, and launch management.
-
Marketing breadth: You understand channel, content, and comms strategy in addition to product marketing strategy.
-
Writing ability: You’ve written short-form and long-form content, and can point to examples of your writing.
-
High-quality bar: You've developed marketing strategies and tactics that put the customer first, while hitting growth goals at the same time.
-
Interest in our product/mission-aligned/values-aligned: You’re genuinely excited about AI and its potential societal impacts. You want to be part of a company helping to ensure that AI is safe and useful to society.
-
Goal setting & prioritisation: You know how to set both short-term goals and long-term goals that are used for prioritisation and focused on impact.
What would “exceeding expectations at 90 days” look like?
- Have substantially improved our website and web conversion rates
- Have helped plan a product launch for Humanloop 2.0
- Have taken over the management of content strategy and production
- Our web-traffic and conversion rates are improving significantly due to your efforts
Technology
Our current stack is
- A Python backend with pytorch for our deep learning framework
- Next/React for our frontend
- AWS for most of our infrastructure
We're building software tools to help developers and founders evaluate how well their LLM apps are working and improve them through finetuning and experiments. By using Humanloop, companies can build much more defensible products on top of models like GPT-3.
Interview Process
We start the interview process with an initial call with the CEO (Raza).
On this first call you’ll discuss your past experiences in detail and you’ll have the opportunity to learn more about Humanloop. We’re looking for experiences where you’ve had to wear multiple hats, evidence of curiosity about customers and the ability to balance being creative and analytical.
After the initial call, if we feel there’s a mutual fit we’ll ask you to do a take-home task. This task typically involves either planning a product launch, developing a content strategy or writing the copy for a web page. We also ask you to write a short blog post or share a writing sample.
We’re looking at this stage to see that you can quickly learn about our customers, know what great looks like and can write well.
After the take home task we’ll ask you to present your work to the wider team. This is a chance for you to demonstrate your presentation/communication skills and also to meet the wider team. We encourage you to ask lots of questions and get to know us. Hopefully at the end of this interview we’ll both have a really clear understanding of what working together will look like and we’ll be able to make you an offer.
