About SiPhox Health

Wearable and At-Home protein monitoring with silicon photonic chips

About the role
Skills: Biochemistry, Biophysics

Company

SiPhox, a Khosla Ventures, Intel Capital, and Y Combinator-backed startup, is commercializing next-generation diagnostics and label-free proteomics using Silicon Photonics, a platform technology for optics miniaturization that has revolutionized the data center industry over the last two decades. SiPhox's technology provides the power of large laboratory instruments in a handheld device that accepts disposable silicon photonic chip sensors.

Role Overview

This is an opportunity to join a high-growth startup at its first major inflection point: We have a validated functional first-generation platform that is ready for commercialization and scale-up, as well as next-generation development.

SiPhox is embarking on an ambitious effort to develop and commercialize a large menu of immunoassay targets on its multiplexed clinical-grade, validated, at-home diagnostics platform. We are looking for a scientist who will collaborate with our engineers, process development and product development teams to build this expanded menu on our platform and help bring it through validation.

Responsibilities

  • Help with execution of immunoassays, recording of procedures, analysis and interpretation of results under supervision of senior scientists
  • Maintain reagent stocks, solutions and records of these stocks and solutions
  • Characterize antibodies and antigens using spectrophotometry, SDS-PAGE and label-free interaction analysis
  • Collaborate with the process and chemistry team to ensure the development of robust and scalable processes for assay manufacturing and quality control.

Qualifications

  • BS in biochemistry, biophysics, analytical chemistry, bioengineering or a related discipline
  • Acquaintance and practical ability with basic laboratory procedures, established techniques, instruments and equipment is required
  • Attention to detail and good record keeping skills are essential
  • Familiarity with statistical principles applicable to assessment of assay performance
  • Experience in computational analysis of data sets using general-purpose programming language (such as Python, R, or Matlab) is a plus
  • Experience with POC/At-home devices is a plus

Personal characteristics

  • Sets and achieves tough stretch goals; delivers outstanding, measurable results
  • Absolute personal integrity and credibility; acts small and delivers outsized results
  • Passion for excellence
  • Creative, thinks out of the box

Compensation and Opportunity

  • Compensation package with benefits, including high-end gym membership
  • Opportunities for professional growth and development
  • Work in a dynamic, innovative environment with cutting-edge technology
Technology

We are developing a new paradigm for consumer health tech wearables by replacing a 100lb optical instrument with an area of silicon smaller than a postage stamp.
